— Rogue Entity Alert
Classification: Rogue Entity
Threat Level: Quiet
Known Habitat: Empty rooms, familiar songs, old photographs, and sentences you haven’t heard in twenty years.
FIELD REPORT
The Echo is not interested in what happened.
It is interested in what remains.
You can move across the country.
Change your clothes.
Change your name.
Throw away the photographs.
Years can pass without a single word.
And then—
A smell.
A song.
The particular sound of someone’s laugh.
And suddenly they’re standing beside you again.
ENCOUNTER LOG
He was driving home when the song came on.
He hadn’t heard it since he was seventeen.
For a moment, the car disappeared.
He could smell the cheap vinyl seats.
Hear the rattle in the passenger door.
Feel the summer heat coming through the windows.
And there she was.
Not as she was now.
As she had been then.
Laughing.
Leaning toward him.
Alive in the strange, perfect way people are alive inside memories.
He kept driving.
The song ended.
The road came back.
He realized he was smiling.
Then he realized he was crying.
He laughed at himself.
“Jesus,” he said to the empty car.
The Echo didn’t answer.
It didn’t need to.
FIELD NOTE
Some people spend years trying to silence their Echoes.
They mistake remembering for weakness.
They think moving forward means leaving everything behind.
But memory is strange.
Sometimes the things that return are not there to drag you backward.
Sometimes they’re simply saying:
“You were here.”
You loved somebody.
You were loved.
You were young.
You were foolish.
You were brave.
You lost something.
You found something.
You existed.
The Echo is proof that the past happened loudly enough to leave a shape behind.
ENCOUNTER WARNING
Do not confuse an Echo with a command.
It may hurt.
It may make you ache.
It may make you want five minutes in a place you can never physically return to.
That’s okay.
You don’t have to follow it.
You can listen.
You can smile.
You can cry.
Then you can keep driving.
The road is still there.
ENTITY STATUS
THE ECHO — PRESENT.
Some things leave.
Some things remain.
Neither fact makes the journey less real.
Keep driving.
