human-like artificial body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It looks like a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It moves like a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It allows a soul to interact with the physical world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To others, it appears to be the person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it is not the whole person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is something deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something unseen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something that existed before the costume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this creates one of the most interesting questions we can ask ourselves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How much of our life is lived from our Gigai?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And how much is lived from our soul?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Artificial Self<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every human being develops a Gigai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not a physical artificial body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A social one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A constructed self.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We learn:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to fit in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to appear successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to hide fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to avoid rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to become acceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not automatically bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Gigai is useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need a way to move through the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need a language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need manners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need the ability to function around others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is not having a Gigai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is forgetting you are wearing one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Avatar Becomes the Player<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine a video game character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The player controls the character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The character has armor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p the player is not the character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the character loses a sword, the player remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the character fails a quest, the player remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the character changes class, the player remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The character is a vessel for experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same is true of the self we show the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your job title is not your soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your reputation is not your soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your appearance is not your soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your mistakes are not your soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your past is not your soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are parts of the Gigai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Important parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Useful parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But still parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Danger of Living Entirely as the Gigai<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tragedy begins when the artificial self becomes the only self we know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person starts asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cHow do I appear?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">instead of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWho am I?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They protect the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They maintain the character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They defend the reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They perform strength while secretly collapsing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They perform happiness while feeling empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They perform certainty while lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gigai becomes a prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because it was designed to trap them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because they forgot they could step outside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Soul Self<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soul self is the part underneath the me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soul whispers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cRemember me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr the Gigai Breaks<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes life damages the artificial self.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A job ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A relationship ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A reputation changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A dream fails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A role disappears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person thinks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI am broken.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But perhaps something else happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps a layer of the Gigai cracked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps reality removed a costume you had mistaken for your skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And underneath?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You were still there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Soul Cannot Be Impersonated Forever<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world rewards certain performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Competence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But eventually the soul asks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cCan we stop pretending you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It helped you survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It helped you belong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It helped you navigate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Honor it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then remember:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p matter?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These questions separate the Gigai from the soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Final Lesson<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal is not to destroy the Gigai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world needs people who
