person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not charisma exactly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not intimidation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person may possess all of those things and still seem strangely absent from themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And another person may enter quietly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No demand for attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing particularly dramatic happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone is there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have been thinking about whether this is where <strong>Reiatsu<\/strong> actually belongs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not as another basic trait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an <strong>emergent property<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For now, the working equation is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Arete \u00d7 Sovereignty \u00d7 Integration of Quiet \u2192 Reiatsu<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working equation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not scripture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are still discovering the machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Multiplication?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because these things seem to alter one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enormous capability without sovereignty does not produce the thing we&#8217;re describing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sovereignty without developed capacity does not fully produce it either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And both can become distorted when Quiet remains completely invisible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So Reiatsu may not be something added to the character sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It may be what happens when several parts of the character begin functioning together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arete<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How much of yourself can you actually bring online?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How much reality can you remain conscious and agentic inside?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can you think while afraid?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speak while challenged?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remain aware while angry?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Change direction while embarrassed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hold complexity without collapsing immediately into a simple answer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arete expands the Mage&#8217;s usable range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sovereignty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who is operating that capacity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can another person&#8217;s mood seize it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can praise redirect it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can shame command it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can a crowd overwrite it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can authority bypass it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can fear disguise itself as an order?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sovereignty does not mean resisting everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It means remaining present in what happens next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Integration of Quiet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then Quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not elimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mage knows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the places where my perception bends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what rejection does to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what admiration does to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what anger does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what loneliness does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what power does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what fear does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mage does not necessarily stop experiencing these things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They become increasingly difficult for those things to impersonate reality unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Then Something Emerges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine two people entering the same hostile room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both feel pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both notice disapproval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both experience fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first begins reorganizing around the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voice changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opinions soften.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attention moves outward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What do they want?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What should I say?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How do I make this stop?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person is still physically present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But some portion of authorship has left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now the second person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Same pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Same fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They feel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They notice the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They notice themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They remain capable of listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the room is correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps they should change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps they should apologize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps they should leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps they should stand their ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All remain possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something has stayed online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is somebody home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Somebody Is Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That phrase may be closer to Reiatsu than <strong>presence<\/strong> alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many things can create presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A weapon creates presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beauty creates presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Celebrity creates presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volume creates presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aggression creates presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authority creates presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reiatsu may be more specific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The felt consequence of an internally occupied person.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone is home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And they remain home even when something else enters the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Nervous System Notices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humans are constantly reading one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Posture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eye contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We notice things we cannot always articulate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person who is frantically seeking permission creates one kind of atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person preparing to dominate creates another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A person hiding creates another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And perhaps an integrated Mage creates another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because they deliberately project power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because fewer parts of them are scrambling to abandon position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reiatsu Is Not Dominance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This distinction matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone can make an entire room afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is an effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But fear is not necessarily Reiatsu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone can command attention through aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still not necessarily Reiatsu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone can control everyone around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That may actually reveal poor sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your internal stability requires control over everyone else, the room may be holding <em>you<\/em> together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is not the phenomenon we&#8217;re looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reiatsu Is Not Charisma<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Charisma can draw people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reiatsu may not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A deeply integrated person might be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solitary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elegant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Charisma concerns attraction and social effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reiatsu may concern something more primitive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How fully does this being seem to occupy its own position?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reiatsu Is Not Confidence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confidence can be mistaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can be extremely confident and completely wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also possess enormous integration while uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine someone saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI don&#8217;t know.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No shame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They simply do not know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That can have tremendous weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps Reiatsu can coexist with uncertainty because it is not certainty that creates it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is occupancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Quiet Mage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means the strongest Reiatsu may sometimes be almost invisible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No need to prove anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone insults them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They inspect it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone praises them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They inspect that too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone disagrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mage does not have to immediately protect an identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is less frantic movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That stillness can feel enormous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The False Reiatsu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If this system is real, there should also be imitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dominance can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Status can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Threat can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mystique can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silence can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Expensive clothing can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perfect posture can imitate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Performance can create the appearance of centeredness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But pressure reveals architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually something reaches the person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then we discover whether the stillness was integration\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">or armor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pressure Reveals the Stat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps Reiatsu becomes easiest to perceive when something pushes against the Mage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Criticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Temptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Embarrassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question becomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How much of the person remains available when the pressure arrives?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That may be one of our strongest working definitions yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reiatsu Cannot Be Trained Directly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This possibility excites me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps there is no:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reiatsu exercise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Develop Arete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Practice sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Study Quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Encounter Rogue Entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn your nervous system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Increase the amount of reality you can remain inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recover more quickly when captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognize distortions earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make cleaner choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And Reiatsu happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like heat from a fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not another object placed beside the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An effect of the fire actually burning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Rogue Entities Return<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This would explain why studying Rogue Entities belongs in Mage training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are not merely social annoyances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They reveal where sovereignty can be captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Default Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Consensus Mirage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gratitude Leash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Increasing Load<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps Mage development can eventually be understood partly through load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can you remain yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a friend?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a stranger?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under criticism?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before an audience?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During conflict?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around authority?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While afraid?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While deeply attracted?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While grieving?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While powerful?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While everyone agrees with you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That last one may be particularly dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Increasing Arete may mean increasing the load under which consciousness and authorship remain available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reiatsu Between People<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then another question appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What happens when two integrated people meet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps neither needs to dominate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neither immediately reorganizes around the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both remain present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now interaction becomes something other than capture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Negotiation becomes real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consent becomes clearer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conflict becomes cleaner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silence becomes possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two sovereignties can occupy the same room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That may be one of the highest forms of social magic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Working Equation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So for now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p is participating in choosing what happens next?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Integration of Quiet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How well can I recognize my characteristic distortions without automatically becoming them?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reiatsu:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What becomes perceptible when those things begin operating together?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still provisional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We should leave ourselves room to discover that some piece is wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Field Note<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps you do not build presence by trying to appear present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps you build it by leaving yourself less often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You learn the places where fear takes you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You learn the places where praise takes you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You learn the places where anger takes you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You learn what happens when someone important disapproves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You learn what happens when everyone applauds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And slowly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You remain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not rigid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not untouched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not invulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Influence enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Love enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fear enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quiet enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world enters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And still:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is somebody home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If that produces a pressure others can feel\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">if an increasingly integrated person begins to acquire a kind of perceptible weight simply because more of them remains available under greater load\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">then perhaps that is what we have been calling <strong>Reiatsu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not another power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The evidence that the
