It&#8217;s me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A friend reaches for your phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You pull it back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat? say?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t want to discuss it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their face changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p knock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The change may feel strangely dramatic because habit has hardened into entitlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But hospitality can be renegotiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The door still belongs to the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Familiarity License and The Access Creep<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Close relatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access Creep expands permissions gradually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Familiarity License justifies the expansion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We&#8217;re close.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course I can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The relationship itself becomes the credential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Familiarity License and The Consistency Trap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cYou&#8217;ve never had a problem with this before.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consistency Trap says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then you cannot have one now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Old tolerance becomes evidence against new boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Familiarity License and The Gratitude Leash<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAfter everything we&#8217;ve been through?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">History and gratitude combine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The boundary now appears to deny the entire relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A request for privacy becomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You don&#8217;t trust me anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A request for space becomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I guess we&#8217;re not close.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stakes inflate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Familiarity License and The Hostage Mood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You set a new boundary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The close person becomes hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now the relationship atmosphere changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps you withdraw the boundary to prove affection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The license renews itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Familiarity License and The Explanation Debt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhy won&#8217;t you tell me?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhy do I have to knock now?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhy can&#8217;t I use it?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The traveler begins constructing a
