If you&#8217;re working from home, senior leadership won&#8217;t see you.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The employee finally asked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes someone does not want to say no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No feels harsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So instead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cMaybe if\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The traveler completes the condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The child becomes forty-five years old and is still submitting class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Perfectionist Goalpost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entity does not require another person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You finish the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Improve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still not ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But notice when yesterday&#8217;s achievement becomes retroactively worthless because today&#8217;s capacity increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old victory still happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A higher mountain does not erase the hill already climbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Relationship Goalpost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI need you to communicate more.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You communicate more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cBut I shouldn&#8217;t have to ask you to communicate.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You begin initiating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cYou&#8217;re only doing it because I complained.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now improvement itself becomes evidence against you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If every attempt to meet the need generates a new reason it does not count, resolution may no longer be the actual objective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Apology Goalpost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI want an apology.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You apologize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cYou only apologized because I asked.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You explain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cNow you&#8217;re making satisfy the condition, the traveler needs to recognize the structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A test with no passing answer is not functioning as a test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stops one harmful behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cBut you still do this other thing.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Improves that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cA truly good person wouldn&#8217;t have needed to change in the first place.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now even growth has become evidence of failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Moving Goalpost can make moral development impossible by requiring a perfect past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody possesses one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Negotiation Goalpost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Price agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One more condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deadline agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One more revision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scope agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Immediately find someone better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reach that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is always:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone richer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excellent creature habitat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social Media Goalposts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One thousand followers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then ten thousand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then one hundred thousand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The number that once represented success becomes embarrassingly small after reaching it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Metrics can be useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But numbers are especially vulnerable to migration because they provide endless class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The traveler may spend a lifetime approaching a destination that retreats at precisely the same speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator
