{"id":176,"date":"2026-08-08T04:52:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depthguide.com\/?p=176"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:52:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:52:20","slug":"the-spell-of-the-alchemist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depthguide.com\/?p=176","title":{"rendered":"The Spell of the Alchemist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing stays where you put it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can hold a breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a little while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually, you have to let it go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can hold a thought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a little while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eventually, another thought arrives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can hold a feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a little while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then it changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or you change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or the world changes around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything is being transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the seventh spell:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nothing is wasted. Everything becomes something else.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A fallen leaf becomes soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wood becomes ash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water becomes cloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cloud becomes rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Food becomes muscle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A word becomes a memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A memory becomes a story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A story becomes something someone else carries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even the things we wish would simply disappear rarely disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They change form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the alchemist&#8217;s secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alchemist does not ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>How do I destroy this?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The better question is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What can this become?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anger can become a boundary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fear can become attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grief can become tenderness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Embarrassment can become humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curiosity can become knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pain can become compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mistake can become instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not mean every painful thing was secretly good for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some things are simply painful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t have to romanticize suffering to learn from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spell is more practical than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When something arrives, ask what you can do with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have been handed this moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it is not the moment you wanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What can you make from it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bad morning can become a good afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A difficult conversation can become understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A failed attempt can become data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A broken plan can reveal a better one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even boredom can become space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is transmutation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not changing what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Changing what happens <strong>next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That distinction is enormous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You cannot put the leaf back on the branch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You cannot un-speak the sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You cannot return yesterday to the condition it was in before you lived it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the story is not finished simply because the event is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event enters you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then you decide, consciously or unconsciously, what happens with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is where the alchemy happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is another kind of energy worth noticing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever you continually feed with attention tends to become important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feed resentment, and resentment grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feed curiosity, and curiosity grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feed fear, and fear becomes very practiced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feed wonder, and wonder becomes easier to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are an alchemist whether you realize it or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every day, you are taking experiences and turning them into something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are constantly processing the raw material of being alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So choose your furnace carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people burn everything they touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others turn almost everything into wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neither person was born knowing how.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They practiced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when something difficult enters your life, don&#8217;t immediately ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>How do I get rid of this?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What can this become?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe the answer is nothing yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave it on the workbench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let time work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let experience work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let yourself work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alchemist does not rush the transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They simply keep tending the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cast the spell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nothing ends where it enters you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
