class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While others fought against endings, the Euthanatoi learned to walk beside them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were called:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Watchers of the Wheel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because they controlled the wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because they stood above it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because they understood something most travelers forgot:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beginning again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seasons turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stars turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The body changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The child becomes the elder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The seed becomes the tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tree becomes the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soil feeds the seed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wheel does not ask permission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It does not negotiate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It simply turns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Euthanatoi discovered that much suffering comes from standing before the Wheel and shouting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cStop.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The First Teaching of the Watchers<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first lesson of the Euthanatoi is simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Honor what arrives.<br>Honor what remains.<br>Honor what leaves.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They do not worship endings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They do not worship class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Keepers of the Last Flame<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Euthanatoi carry a special duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They tend the flames left behind by travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When someone finishes a journey, the Watchers ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat wisdom did this person carry?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat kindness did they give?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat light can be passed forward?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They do not preserve people by freezing them in memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They preserve them by continuing what was good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A teacher continues through students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A healer continues through healed people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A kind word continues through the person who received it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flame moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The torchbearer changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fire remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Armor of Acceptance<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Euthanatoi wear no armor of iron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their armor is acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not passive surrender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not giving up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acceptance is seeing reality clearly enough to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A warrior who refuses to believe the enemy exists cannot defend the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A healer who refuses to believe the wound exists cannot treat it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A traveler who refuses to believe the road changes cannot navigate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Watcher does not say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI like everything that happens.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Watcher says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI see what has happened. Now what is the wise action?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Enemy of the Tribe<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The great enemy of the Euthanatoi is not death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is <strong>forgetting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forgetting that time is precious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forgetting that people are temporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forgetting that every moment is borrowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forgetting that the hands holding something will one day open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The enemy whispers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cYou have plenty of time.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Watcher replies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cThen use this moment well.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Watcher&#8217;s Practice<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each morning, the Euthanatoi perform a simple ritual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They look at their hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat has been placed in my care class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat can I prove?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWhat can I tend?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A creature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Beautiful Death<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Euthanatoi understand a secret:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A beautiful death is not only the final moment of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the ability to let small things end properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old identity that no longer serves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The grudge that has become heavy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fear that once protected you but now limits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dream that has changed shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chapter that has finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every ending is a class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cHow do I prevent all endings?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Watcher asks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cHow do I meet endings with dignity?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Tribe&#8217;s Greatest Treasure<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Euthanatoi possess a strange treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It cannot be placed in a chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It cannot be bought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It cannot be stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is called:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gravitas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The weight of someone who understands the preciousness of a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who has seen enough endings to stop wasting beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who knows laughter is valuable because it ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who knows love is valuable because it requires vulnerability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Euthanatoi are not hidden in distant mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They appear wherever someone chooses stewardship over possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The parent who protects a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The teacher who passes on knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gardener who plants trees they will never sit beneath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The elder who shares wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They swear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI will meet change with wisdom.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They do not swear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI will keep everything forever.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They swear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI will cherish what passes through my hands.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They do not swear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI will defeat the Wheel.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They swear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI will walk with the Wheel.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the Wheel is not the enemy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wheel is the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the Watcher understands:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of a flame is not to remain untouched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of a flame is to give light while it burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So they stand beside the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They carry lanterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They watch the turning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when another traveler arrives in
