— Rogue Entity Alert
Classification: Rogue Entity
Threat Level: Flickering
Known Habitat: Cold rooms, abandoned plans, tired people, and the instant before someone decides to try one more time.
FIELD REPORT
The Match is small.
Almost laughably small.
It cannot light a house by itself.
It cannot warm a person for long.
It cannot defeat a storm.
But darkness has a peculiar weakness:
It only takes one light to prove it isn’t absolute.
ENCOUNTER LOG
He had stopped making plans.
Not dramatically.
He simply stopped.
There were always reasons.
Too tired.
Too expensive.
Too late.
Maybe next month.
Maybe next year.
One evening, a friend called.
“Come outside.”
“Why?”
“Just come outside.”
He almost said no.
Instead, he put his shoes on.
They sat on the porch.
The friend handed him a cup of coffee.
They talked about nothing important.
Then, after a while, his friend said:
“You know what we should do?”
He laughed.
“What?”
And the friend told him.
It was ridiculous.
Expensive.
Probably impractical.
He laughed again.
Then he said:
“Actually…”
The word surprised him.
He hadn’t realized he still had an actually in him.
FIELD NOTE
The Match doesn’t usually arrive as inspiration.
It is smaller than that.
It is the tiny impulse that says:
“Maybe.”
Maybe I’ll try.
Maybe I’ll call them.
Maybe I’ll get up.
Maybe I’ll make something.
Maybe tomorrow doesn’t have to look exactly like today.
The Match doesn’t promise success.
It only asks whether you are willing to create enough light to see the next step.
ENCOUNTER WARNING
Do not insult small beginnings.
A match looks ridiculous next to a forest fire.
That’s not its job.
Its job is to catch.
Then something else catches.
A candle.
A stove.
A fireplace.
Another match.
And suddenly there is enough light to find the door.
ENTITY STATUS
THE MATCH — LIT.
Protect the little flame.
You don’t need a bonfire tonight.
You just need enough light to take the next step.
